My two genres are a News Feature article and a poem on a poster. Both talk about the struggles of Muslim students practicing their faith on campus. The News Feature will discuss Muslim students’ challenges, such as discrimination and feeling like their needs are not being met. While the poem will be a more abstract expression of the difficulties they face, emphasizing Muslim students’ feelings and emotions while trying to practice their faith. The News Feature will allow readers to gain a more factual understanding of the struggles Muslim students go through and how they are affected, while the poem provides an emotional connection to the reader.
